Teaching and Activities that Zhu Lesan Engaged in at Chinese Painting Department of Private Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts

Zhu Lesan started teaching at Private Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts in 1922,left the city in 1937 and returned for teaching in 1946.He was an important lecturer of Chinese Painting Department and witnessed the maturity of the Academy after its foundation.Based on archives and relevant materials of the Academy,this article outlines the subjects and content that he taught,teaching methods that he employed,and exhibitions and clubs that he participated in together with other teachers and students of Chinese Painting Department.It also explores his important position and historical significance in the history of Chinese art education in the 20th Century.
