外国语言文学与区域国别学学科构建:关系、优势与挑战

区域国别学已正式列入交叉学科门类,其战略性特征需要外国语言文学学科更深介入。在区域国别学人才培养过程中,外国语言文学学科可发挥基础人才供给与语言素养、文化素养及跨文化实践素养供给的作用。在研究层面,外国语言文学五大学科方向均与区域国别学密切相关。外国语言文学学科参与区域国别学构建具有显著优势,包括一手文献优势、团队和注意力优势、国际实践优势以及研究视角优势。同时,也面临一些挑战,如涉区域国别的知识、概念与理论储备不足,涉区域国别的问题意识不够,对世情国情时情认知不够。为此,外国语言文学学科需要秉持“创新是第一动力”的理念,实现跨部门协同机制创新和多学科资源整合创新。

Area studies have been officially listed as an interdiscipline in China.Its strategic importance for the country and inherent characteristics of interdisciplinarity make the deep involvement of the foreign language and literature all the more desirable.On the one hand,the foreign language and literature can play an important role in talent cultivation by educating students with basic skill set,high language proficiency,fluent cultural literacy,and key intercultural practice skills.On the other hand,the five major research directions within the discipline of foreign language and literature are all relevant to and therefore of special values for promoting research in the discipline of area studies.Moreover,comparatively speaking,the foreign language and literature enjoys some unique advantages in terms of the possible contributions it can make to the construction of area studies,namely collecting substantial first-hand literature,strong teamwork capabilities,researchers with long-term commitment to one field,rich experience in international communication,and a linguistic research perspective.However,it also faces some challenges,among which are the shortage of knowledge,concepts and theory pertaining to area studies,insufficient awareness of major issues in area studies,and inadequate understanding of the current as well as the historical states of China,the world and their relations.To address these challenges,researchers of of foreign language and literature needs to uphold the notion that“Innovation is the first driving force”,strive for an innovative cross-departmental coordination mechanism and the integration of multi-disciplinary resources,
