The Dolomites,Back Garden of the Alps

有人说,上帝把阿尔卑斯山脉最美的风景给了意大利,而意大利把最美的阿尔卑斯山脉留给了多洛米蒂。多洛米蒂坐落于意大利北部,是阿尔卑斯山脉的一部分,被誉为“阿尔卑斯的后花园”。据地质学家考证,大约2.5亿年前,多洛米蒂山还安静地沉睡在海底,后来由于地壳运动慢慢浮出水面,并不断上升,最终成了如今平均海拔3000多米的山峰群。

The Dolomites in northern Italy are part of the Alps,known as the"Back Garden of the Alps".According to geologists'textual research,about 250 million years ago,the Dolomites slept quietly at the bottom of the sea.Later,due to crustal movement,the Dolomites slowly emerged from the water,continued to rise,and finally became thepresent-day mountains with an elevation of over 3,0o0 meters.In the late 19th century,a French naturalist began to research the landform of the area,thus the placewas named after the scholar's name"Dolomites".
