The Memory-Oriented Writing of Dictatorship History--On the Childhood Trauma in Before We Were Free

多米尼加裔美国作家朱丽娅·阿尔瓦雷斯的《我们自由之前》以特鲁希略独裁的历史作为背景,书写了在暴力专制之下人们为争取自由、民主所付出的努力和所做出的牺牲,以及儿童在暴力和恐怖阴影下所遭受的创伤。童年创伤在小说中涉及三个方面:以纪实性的儿童内部视角叙述独裁历史进程中带来的创伤;以日记形式的儿童话语叙事发挥表达性功能,治愈精神创伤;以具有隐喻性的儿童形象为切入点,探究创伤之根。

Dominican American writer Julia Alvarez’s Before We Were Free is set in the history of Trujillo’s dictatorship.It describes the efforts and sacrifices made by people to fight for freedom and democracy under violent dictatorship,and tells the trauma suffered by children under the shadow of violence and terror.Starting from the traumatic psychology of Dominican child Anita,the article focuses on analyzing her traumatic experience and the role of expressive function in the process of wound healing,and exploring the root of trauma.
