摘要
作为一名比较文学学者,米勒在文化多元语境下思考并重新定义多元,并在解构主义的影响下生发出自己的文学翻译观。他认为文本是可译的,但受“不可减约的他者性”的影响,原文在跨越不同文化、国家、语言的边界时,会发生不可避免的变形。在米勒的翻译理念中,译者作为“叛逆者”,要在承认原文没有可确定的终极意义的前提下,携带一个文本跨越边界。读者则要在尊重文化“他者性”的前提下,朝向两个方面阅读。一方面是尽可能回到作品的原始语言,照顾好关于作品的内在的异质性、矛盾性、奇异性和非一致性;另一方面是建立一种作品翻译后必然变形的意识,从而在己方文化中对另一种文化进行改造,使两方文化在他者性的碰撞中焕发出鲜活的生命力。
As a scholar of comparative literature,Miller thinks and redefines pluralism in the context of cultural pluralism,and under the influence of deconstructionism,he has developed his own view of literary translation.He believes that texts are translatable,but influenced by“irreducible otherness”,the original text will inevitably undergo deformation when it crosses the borders of different cultures,countries,and languages.In Miller’s concept of translation,the translator,as a“rebel”,carries a text across borders while acknowledging that the original text has no definite ultimate meaning.Readers should read in two directions while respecting the“otherness”of culture.The first aspect is to return to the original language of the work as much as possible,taking care of the inherent heterogeneity,contradiction,singularity,and non-consistency of the work;The second aspect is to establish the consciousness that a work will inevitably deform after translation,so as to transform another culture in its own culture,so that the two cultures will glow with fresh vitality in the collision of otherness.
