Phosphorus content and soil elements analysis were carried out on the unknown functional area F13 and its surrounding soil in the suburb of heritage site at the ancient government seat of Luxian County. The two-tailed test showed significant differences in the contents of soil elements P,Cu,MgO,Sr,CaO,Zn,Fe_(2)O_(3),and MnO in the soil inside and outside F13,with higher content of P,Cu,MgO,Sr,CaO,Zn and Fe_(2)O_(3) in the soil inside F13.Combined with comprehensive cluster analysis and principal component analysis,it was found that Cu,MgO,Sr,CaO,Zn and P had common or similar sources and dominant factors among these different elements. The enrichment of Fe_(2)O_(3)was different from that of the other six enriched elements, and it was speculated that the enrichment of Fe_(2)O_(3)was related to the iron tools used by humans to clean F13.The content of MnO in the soil inside F13 was lower, while it was higher in the surrounding soil, which was related to handicraft activities in the Suburb of heritage site at the ancient government seat of Luxian during the same period.Judging from the shape of the unknown functional area,F13 is a simple public toilet built for artisans during theNorthern Dynasty.
