基础研究资助促进了高校毕业生就业——基于国家自然科学基金的经验证据

Fundamental Research Funding Promotes College Graduates'Employment:Evidence from the National Natural Science Foundation

本文以国家自然科学基金为例,检验了基础研究资助对高校毕业生就业的影响。研究发现,自然科学基金资助不仅提升了毕业生收入水平,而且降低了待就业率。机制研究发现,基金资助提高了学科的学术影响力、改善了教学辅助设施与实验条件、为学生提供更多的课题研究机会。本文的研究结论对于加强基础研究人才自主培养和促进高校毕业生就业具有重要的政策含义。

Drawing on the case of the National Natural Science Foundation,we examine the impact of fundamental research funding on college graduates'employment and find that the increase of the total amount of funding is positively associated with college graduates'higher monthly salary and lower job-waiting rate.The funding programs boost the scientific research output,refine teaching and experimental facilities,and offer more research opportunities for students.Our paper provides policy implications on how China can cultivate talent and promote the employment of college graduates.
