应尚能现存148首声乐作品,其作品综合运用中西方作曲技法中的逻辑结构布局与音乐发展思维,遵循汉语普通话的语调特点、韵律节奏与民族情感表达方式。从应尚能对中西音乐语言的融合、歌词与旋律的配合、钢琴伴奏声部的观照,可见中国近代第一批专业音乐作曲家以建立“新音乐”为目标,“尽力研究西乐,将西乐的优点尽量采用来补充国乐的缺点”,进而探索中国民族音乐传承与发展的路径。

Ying Shangneng's 148 existing vocal music works comprehensively apply the logical structure layout and musical development thinking of Chinese and Western composition techniques,and follow the intonation characteristics,rhythm and national emotion expression of Mandarin Chinese.Through the integration of Chinese and Western musical languages,the coordination of lyrics and melodies,and the arrangement of piano accompaniment,we can see how the first generation of Chinese new music composers established New Music."For the purpose or artistic pursuit-"Try your best to study Western music and adopt the advantages of Western music to supplement the shortcomings of Chinese music.We can also gain insight into the value orientation of the first generation of composers to explore and promote the inheritance and development of Chinese national music.
