Objective To explore the application effectiveness of a risk management model based on a safety delivery checklist in obstetric clinical practice. Methods To assess the quality of nursing safety related work for midwives in two periods:routine risk management(July 2022 to March 2023)and tabular risk management based on safety delivery checklists(April 2023 to December 2023)in Jinjiang Hospital.Analyze the occurrence of nursing errors and adverse events among midwives during the two periods,as well as the incidence of maternal and neonatal complications. Results During the period of tabular risk management, the standardization of midwife nursing processes, implementation of nursing safety systems, management of rescue drugs and instruments, and nursing quality scores for rescue nursing were all higher than those of conventional risk management. The average number of nursing errors and adverse events was lower than that of conventional risk management. The incidence of difficult childbirth, postpartum hemorrhage and infection,as well as the incidence of intrauterine distress and neonatal asphyxia in the neonatal fetal period were lower than those of conventional risk management(P<0.05).Conclusions Introducing safety delivery checklists into obstetric risk management can effectively improve the quality of departmental safety nursing, reduce nursing errors and adverse events, lower nursing risks, and have a positive effect on reducing maternal and neonatal complications.
