Sayonara·Goodbye,Little Widow, and I Love Mary are representative works of Huang Chunming'smetropolis themes in the 1970s.These three works focus more on female characters than other novels. This article delves beyond the interpretive approach of "America and Japan's post colonial/colonized Taiwan" at the national level, and explores the far richer gender political connotations:the collusive relationship between colonial males and colonizers due to "male homosocial desire";Colonial men's "self-orientalism" and their willingness to be "castrated" in the context of global capitalism;Colonized women face oppression within nationalism and feminism, and so on.The gender narrative of the three works focuses on Taiwan region, with a broad sense of local care. They reveal various issues that are easily concealed within the colonies, and demonstrate the necessity of de imperialism in the Third World after the war.
