学科采访视域下的大型图书资源建设研究——以北京大学图书馆为例

A Study on the Construction of Big Set Books from Subject Acquisition Perspective——A Case of Peking University Library

大型图书作为图书馆文献资源的重要组成部分,因其内容的系统性、结构的完整性等,在学术研究、学科建设等方面发挥着重要作用。受多方面因素影响,大型图书的采访和管理目前面临着诸多挑战,然而大型图书资源建设的研究却相对较少,在实践中缺乏参考。文章首先回顾了北京大学图书馆大型图书采访工作实践与演变发展,对其中遇到的困难与问题进行了梳理,并提出了大型图书的采购策略与建议,以期为高校图书馆大型图书资源建设提供参考。

Big sets are not only important components of academic library collections and but also high valued for their systematic structure and comprehensive content,which play a crucial role in supporting academic research and discipline development.However,the acquisition and management of big sets are fraught with challenges,often due to budget constraints,evolving academic needs,and the complexities of maintaining up-to-date collections.Despite their significance,there is a noticeable lack of research focused on the development and management of big sets resources,leaving library practitioners with limited guidance on how to optimize their acquisition processes and resource utilization.This study addresses these gaps by using Peking University Library as a case to explore key issues related to the acquisition and management of big sets,with the goal of offering concrete recommendations that can serve as a reference for other university libraries.The research adopted research methods of literature reviews and analysis of statistics.Through these two methods,it investigates the definition and concept of big sets,examines existing acquisition models,and delves into the challenges faced by libraries,particularly those related to meeting the discipline-specific needs of academic users.The study reveals that current acquisition models often struggle to keep pace with the changing demands of different academic fields,and that financial limitations frequently hinder the procurement of essential large-scale materials.Furthermore,it highlights the systematic approaches to involving faculty and academic departments in the acquisition process,which could help align library collections more closely with institutional research priorities.The findings suggest that a more strategic approach to big sets acquisition is necessary,one that not only considers the immediate needs of various disciplines but also aligns with the university's broader academic development goals.The study proposes several actionable strategies,including the development of specialized collections tailored to the unique needs of different academic fields,the creation of acquisition consortiums to pool resources,and the establishment of a dedicated fund specifically for big sets resources.Additionally,it emphasizes the importance of enhancing faculty involvement in the acquisition process to ensure that library collections remain relevant and well-utilized.By implementing these recommendations,university libraries can not only improve their big sets collections but also provide a stronger foundation for future academic research and resource development.
