As a survivor of and writer on Auschwitz,Primo Levi's writings have a distinct ethical appeal, which is to realize the self-redemption of survivors, fulfill the moral contract with victims, and testify to history at the public level so as to fight against the double forgetting of perpetrators and victims, and then to communicate against di-vision and bridge the historical fault.Levi advocated going beyond the simple debate of"revenge"or"forgiveness,"and his testimony was aimed at pursuing justice rather than venting hatred. However,Levi's suicide indirectly confirmed the paradox of salvation and the impossibility of forgiveness.Examining Levi's Auschwitz-themed compositions and the paradoxes therein from an ethical perspective can lead to a constant reflection on how to face up to the breaking moments in extreme history.
