Progesterone,a vital steroid hormone in women,plays an integral role in regulating endometrial functions and sustaining pregnancy and reproductive health.Its receptors are categorized into two types:classical receptors,which respond slowly,and non-classical receptors,known for their rapid response.Each type possesses distinct functional isoforms.This review delved into the molecular properties and action mechanisms of the both receptor types,elucidating how they modulated endometrial receptivity,uterine function,and embryo implantation.Moreover,this review also discussed endometrial dysfunctions caused by aberrant progesterone signaling responses,such as endometriosis,including its pathogenesis and clinical treatment strategies,and provided new insights into the treatment of related reproductive disorders.
