摘要
既往研究强调商务印书馆追求文化的一面,本文尝试运用史料重建大学丛书委员会的相关史实,呈现商务印书馆在“大学丛书”出版过程中的另一面,即追逐商业利益的一面,侧重于探讨在学术出版中如何进行商业运作。本文认为,商务印书馆大学丛书委员会的人数是变动不居的。大学丛书委员会部分委员在“大学丛书”出版过程中在一定程度上承担了介绍或征集丛书稿本、审查丛书书稿的职能,但对于商务印书馆而言,大学丛书委员会最重要的作用是营销推广“大学丛书”
While previous studies has predominantly emphasize the cultural pursuits of the Commercial Press,this paper seeks to reconstruct the historical context of the“University Series”Editorial Board,presenting another aspect of the Commercial Press's pursuitnamely,its commercial interests in the publication process.The primary focus is on the commercial operations within academic publishing.This study reveals that the membership of the“University Series”Editorial Board at the Commercial Press was subject to change.Some members were involved in the solicitation and review of book manuscripts for the“University Series”,yet the more significant role of the board lay in the marketing and promotion of this series.
