What social factors should be considered in the early planning of hospital construction in Japan? How do architectural design units and other responsible entities work together atthis stage?Take the Japanese Red Cross Tokyo Katsushika Perinatal Center, which was completed in 2021,as an example. It was originally the Katsushika Red Cross Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. In response to a decrease in perinatal care facilities due to Japan's declining birth rate, the government has implemented a number of perinatal care projects. These include the establishment of perinatal medical centers that offer high-quality,specialized care before and after childbirth. In step with this development, the Japanese Red Cross Katsushika Maternity Hospital was relocated and rebuilt as the Japanese Red Cross Tokyo Katsushika Perinatal Center, with the goal of making it a leading perinatal care hospital open to the community.
