Emission Reduction Commitments and Corporate ESG Performance

基于2015年新《环保法》的正式实施,探究2011—2020年减排承诺对能源类企业ESG表现的影响。研究发现,减排承诺能显著改善能源领域发展新质生产力企业的ESG表现;相较于新能源企业,传统能源企业因具备较强的生存危机感,其企业ESG表现较好。进一步检验发现,不同生命周期下企业ESG表现受减排承诺影响的程度有所不同,对处于成长期与成熟期的企业更为显著;同时,新能源企业与传统能源企业在不同生命周期表现出一定的差异效应。

Based on the formal implementation of the new"Environmental Protection Law"in 2015,this paper explores the impact of emission reduction commitments from 2011 to 2020 on the ESG performance of energy companies.The study found that emission reduction commitments can significantly improve the ESG performance of enterprises in the energy sector;Compared with new energy enterprises,traditional energy enterprises have better ESG performance because of their strong sense of survival crisis.Further tests show that the impact of emission reduction commitments on ESG performance of enterprises in different life cycles is different,which is more significant for enterprises in growth and maturity stages.At the same time,new energy enterprises and traditional energy enterprises show certain differences in different life cycles.
