基于元分析的虚拟现实技术增强英语教学效果研究

摘要 VR创建的真实和交互环境有助于学生习得语言。近几年VR环境下中小学英语教学的实证研究逐步显现,但所得结果不尽相同。目前,VR支持英语教学有效设计的知识和理论支撑也非常有限。鉴于此,应用元分析方法对VR支持中小学英语教学的研究进行定量与定性分析。以筛选的15篇准实验研究为样本,使用量化元分析方法发现VR支持的英语教学对中小学生学习成效具有中等程度的积极影响;同时基于质性元分析,提炼出真实情境、社会交互、多模态表征以及学习者自主性四个VR作用于英语学习的关键要素;此外,进一步分析并归纳出VR环境下英语教学的典型学习行为与理论框架。随后,基于分析结果探究VR支持的英语课程内容、学习活动及其应用限度,提出未来VR在中小学英语教学中的应用与相关研究应重点关注:综合考量沉浸度与使用成本来选择VR;突破媒体比较研究,聚焦认知结果或价值增值,从学科视角关注学习策略、学习模式的融合应用设计。 The realistic and interactive environment created by VR will assist students in acquiring language.Although the empirical research on English as a Foreign Language(EFL)teaching and learning in VR environments in K-12 has gradually emerged in recent years,the results are differentiated.Moreover,there is still minimal knowledge and theoretical support for VR to assist in the optimal design of EFL teaching and learning.In view of this,the meta-analysis method was applied to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research on VR-supported EFL teaching and learning in K-12.Taking the selected 15 quasi-experimental research studies as samples using quantitative meta-analysis,it was found that VR-supported EFL teaching and learning had a moderate positive impact on the learning effectiveness of K-12 students;Meanwhile,based on the qualitative meta-analysis,the four key elements of the role of VR in EFL learning including authentic context,social interaction,multimodal representation,and learner autonomy were refined;in addition,further analyses were conducted to summarize the typical learning behaviors and the theoretical framework of English teaching in VR environment.Subsequently,based on the results of the analysis,the content and learning activities of VR-supported English language courses and their application limits in K-12 were explored,and it was proposed that the future application of VR in EFL teaching and learning in K-12 and related research should comprehensively consider the immersion and cost of use in VR selection,break through the comparative research of media,focus on cognitive results or value added,and concentrate on the integrated application design of learning strategies and learning modes from the disciplinary perspective.
