The urgent need for comprehensive unity among Chinese merchants in the Dutch East Indies at the turn of the twentieth century led to the establishment of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in port cities and Chinese settlements.This development was closely related to the survival challenges faced by Chinese merchants in the Dutch East Indies.The identity crisis,economic crisis,and public opinion pressures confronted by Chinese merchants in the Dutch East Indies prompted them to urgently seek protection from the Qing Dynasty and self-preservation,providing an opportunity for the emergence of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
