The 16th BRICS Summit,which took place in Kazan,Russia,from 22 to 24 October,is significant for several reasons.It is the first meeting after the expansion of the BRICS grouping,involving several heads of state and over 20,000 participants from 33 countries.This summit underscores the role of the BRICS as a“non-Western”entity that is not inherently“anti-Western,”signalling a new era for the Global South to gain strength through solidarity while jointly promoting global peace and development.
