Current research on the phenomenon of“introducing Yi-philosophy into medicine”has neglected the period of the Northern Song Dynasty, which is a gap in the study of the fusion of Yi-philosophy and medicine.By retrieving medical literature of the Northern Song Dynasty, this paper summarizes the relevant texts related to introducing Yiphilosophy into medicine, focusing on the four aspects of Yi image,Yi number,Yi principle, and Yi divination.Overall, the introduction of Yi-philosophy into medicine in the Northern Song Dynasty inherited the characteristics of“interpreting medicine through the lens of Yi-philosophy”from the Sui and Tang dynasties. Its development trend is mainly refl ected in the enhancement of active awareness, the deepening of interpretation depth, the maturity of methods of interpreting medicine through the lens of Yi-philosophy,and the formation of fi xed propositions of Yi-philosophy and medicine. The introduction of Yi-philosophy into medicine in the Northern Song Dynasty not only enriched the connotation of medicine, but also enhanced the application value of Zhou Yi(《周易》Book of Changes)Studies. At the same time,we should also treat the phenomenon of introducing Yi-philosophy into medicine with a rational attitude, affi rming its positive role in the development of medicine, while avoiding the negative eff ects caused by over-emphasis or abuse of Yi Jing knowledge.
