The Promoting Effect of Belt and Road Investment on the Peace and Well-being of the Host Countries

运用双重差分法考察“一带一路”投资对东道国内部和平的影响。实证分析发现,“一带一路”投资对东道国内部和平具有重要作用。机制分析结果显示,“一带一路”投资通过发挥经济效应与文化效应来促进东道国的内部和平,“一带一路”投资的和平效应具有国家间的异质性。各国不断扩大开放、深化共同利益是民心所向,是缓解全球安全忧虑的重要举措。

This paper uses the difference-in-difference method to investigate the impact of Belt and Road investment on the internal peace of the host countries,and empirically finds that the Belt and Road investment plays an important role in the internal peace of the host countries.The results of the mechanism analysis show that the Belt and Road investment promotes the internal peace of the host countries by giving play to its economic and cultural effects.The peace effect of Belt and Road investment is heterogeneous across countries.The results of the study show that it is the aspiration of the people to continue to expand opening up and deepen the common interests of all countries,and it is an important measure to alleviate global security concerns.
