失败恐惧对创业企业成长的积极效应--基于情绪认知评价理论的视角

The Positive Effect of Fear of Failure on Growth of Entrepreneurial Enterprises--Perspectives of Cognitive Appraisal Theory

失败恐惧与创业者形影相随,其虽能颠覆创业,但也可成就创业。然而,现有研究却鲜少探讨创业情境下失败恐惧对创业行为和创业结果的激励效应。基于情绪认知评价理论,从创业过程中的压力情境理解失败恐惧的概念内涵,探索失败恐惧对创业努力和创业企业成长的积极影响。通过对316份创业者问卷调查数据进行实证分析,结果表明:创业者的失败恐惧通过提升创业努力,进而推动创业企业成长;在创业者内心更具有使命感和外部环境较稳定时,失败恐惧更能提升创业努力。研究结论从创业行为视角揭示失败恐惧对创业结果的积极效应,深化对失败恐惧激励作用的理解,丰富微观视角下创业努力形成的情境化研究。

Fear of failure accompanies entrepreneurs,but the existing research still knows little about the positive effect of fear of failure on entrepreneurial behavior and entrepreneurial results.Based on the cognitive appraisal theory,it understood the concept connotation of fear of failure from the uniqueness of entrepreneurial situation and the continuity of entrepreneurial process.It explored the positive effect of fear of failure on growth of entrepreneurial enterprises,analyzed the mediative role of entrepreneurial efforts in the relationship,and explored the boundary conditions of the influence of fear of failure on entrepreneurial efforts.It conducted an empirical analysis on the survey data of 316 entrepreneurs,and the results are as following.Fear of failure contributes to the growth of entrepreneurial enterprises by enhancing entrepreneurial efforts.The higher the entrepreneurial calling and the lower the environmental dynamism,the more fear of failure enhances entrepreneurial efforts.It reveals the positive effect of fear of failure on entrepreneurial results from the perspective of entrepreneurial behavior,deepens the understanding of the motivating effect of fear of failure,and enriches the contextualized research on the formation of entrepreneurial efforts from the micro perspective.
