Yang Kuan used to work in Shanghai Museum for a long time.Facing the difficulties of self-construction,cultural education and special national conditions in the early stage of the museum,Yang Kuan paid attention to the social value of the museum and promoted its role in the development of the country and society.According to the nature of the development of museums,Yang Kuan puts forward that museums should focus on academic research and education,that is,popularization and specialization of museums.He denounced the excavation,theft and sale of cultural relics,saved the loss of national cultural relics,connected the museum with the public,social undertakings and national construction,and tried to open up a development path in line with modern Chinese museum undertakings.Yang pays great attention to practical work and has made great contributions to the protection of national cultural relics and the construction of museums.
