摘要
中国首个汉英机器翻译系统“中文大学语言翻译器”由香港中文大学乐秀章教授团队于上世纪70年代研制成功,大力推动了我国乃至世界机器翻译研究事业的发展。本文从科学技术史的视角出发,通过发掘原始资料与相关历史文献,梳理该翻译系统的研制过程,分析其技术创新、总结其经验教训,以期对我国机器翻译技术的更新迭代提供借鉴。
China's first Chinese-English machine translation system,Chinese University Language Translator(CULT),was successfully developed by the team led by Professor Loh Shiu-chang of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the 197Os,which greatly advanced machine translation research in not only China but also the world.From the perspective of the history of science and technology,this paper reconstructs the development process of this translation system,analyzes its technological innovations and summarizes the lessons learned,based on original materials and relevant documents,in order to provide a reference for the updating and iteration of machine translation technology in China.
