The Impact of Natural Disasters on the Digital Transformation of Agricultural Enterprises:Promoting or Inhibiting

基于2007-2020年中国A股上市农业企业数据,实证分析了自然灾害对农业企业数字化转型的影响及其机制.研究结果表明:自然灾害会抑制农业企业数字化转型;内部控制和研发投入在自然灾害和农业企业数字化转型间均具有中介作用.从外部宏观环境的异质性分析发现,自然灾害对所在地区市场程度低、数字发展水平高的农业企业数字化转型具有显著负向影响;从企业特征的异质性分析发现,自然灾害对民营企业数字化转型的负向影响比对国有企业的更显著,对处于衰退期的农业企业数字化转型的抑制效果比处于成长期、成熟期的更显著,对风险承担水平低的农业企业数字化转型的影响比风险承担水平高的更显著.因此,在宏观层面上,政府应提升应对自然灾害的能力、加大对农业企业数字化转型政策、资金与技术的支持力度;在微观层面上,企业应建立完备的自然灾害预警与应对机制,加强内部控制体系建设,结合自身发展阶段和水平精准推进数字化转型.

Based on the data from China s A-share listed agricultural enterprises from 2007 to 2020,this paper empirically analyzes the impact and mechanisms of natural disasters on the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises.The research results indicate that natural disasters inhibit the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises.Both internal control and research and development(R&D)investment play intermediary roles in the relationship between natural disasters and the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises.Heterogeneous analysis of the external macro environment reveals that natural disasters have a significantly negative impact on digital transformation of agricultural enterprises located in regions with a lower market degree and higher digital development levels.From the perspective of enterprise characteristics,the negative influence of natural disasters on the digital transformation is greater for private enterprises compared to state-owned enterprises.It is also more pronounced for agricultural enterprises in the declining phase compared to those in the growth and maturity phases.Additionally,the impact on the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises with lower risk-taking levels is more significant than those with higher risk-taking levels.Therefore,at the macro level,the government should enhance its capacity to respond to natural disasters,increase policy support,and provide funding and technological assistance for the digital transformation of agricultural enterprises.At the micro level,enterprises should establish comprehensive mechanisms for natural disaster warning and response,strengthen internal control system construction,and precisely promote digital transformation based on their development stage and level.
