为出版职业读书:民国大型出版企业职工阅读建设研究

Reading for Professional Development in the Publishing Industry:A Study of the Cultivation of Reading in Major Publishing Enterprises During the Historical Period of the Republic of China

摘要 文章以商务印书馆、中华书局等民国大型出版企业为中心,分析阅读为何及如何融入民国出版人的日常生活。编辑参与书刊生产时对学术资源的需求,通过推广公共阅读发展社会教育的业界共识,以及职工对提升智识和业余休闲的需要,推动了民国出版企业对于职工阅读的建设:一方面,建设面向出版工作的附属图书馆、面向业余休闲的同人阅览室;另一方面,有选择地向职工提供图书馆参考用书和业余时间阅读的智育读本,以企业意志规制职工何时读、在哪读、读什么,使职工在工作和业余时间养成阅读习惯。民国出版企业的阅读建设激发了其知识生产与学术研究的潜能,提升了出版从业者的职业素养和个人智识,其阅读推广经验对当下出版业深化全民阅读活动具有一定借鉴意义。 Focusing on major publishing enterprises during the period of the Republic of China,this study analyzes the measures taken by The Commercial Press and Zhonghua Book Company to cultivate their staff to read and explores why and how reading was integrated into the daily lives of publishers.Editors'demand for academic resources during the production of books and periodicals,the industry's consensus on promoting public reading for the development of social education,and the needs for improving knowledge base and the quality leisure time have driven the cultivation of reading among editors in publishing enterprises during the historical period of the Republic of China.On one hand,they built libraries specifically for staff and reading rooms for their leisure time reading.On the other hand,they selectively provided reference books and educational reading materials for staff to probe during their leisure time,regulating when,where,and what to read according to the needs of the enterprises.In this way,these publishing enterprises had fostered the reading habits among employees both at work and in their spare time.The cultivation of reading in publishing enterprises during the period of the Republic of China stimulated the potential for knowledge production and academic research,enhancing the professional development and personal knowledge bases of practitioners.The measures for reading promotion in these enterprises are still valuable for the current publishing industry in deepening nation-wide reading activities.
