In the 21st century,the global food security and nutrition situation has become increasingly complicated and severe.For four consecutive years from 2020 to 2023,the themes of the annual reports on“The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World,”jointly prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations(FAO),the International Fund for Agricultural Development(IFAD),the United Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF),the World Food Programme(WFP)and the World Health Organization(WHO),have consistently focused on healthy diets(www.fao.org).The Chinese government released the“14th Five-Year Plan for Bioeconomic Development,”which clearly outlines the shift in approaches from“diseasecentered”to“health-centered”and from“solving the problem of food and clothing”to“nutrition diversity.”Concepts such as“the kitchen is the pharmacy”and“food is medicine”have become the prevailing trends of our times(Mozaffarian et al.,2022).Huangjing(Polygonati Rhizoma)has unique advantages(Chen et al.,2021)and is expected to be an emerging crop and forest food(Figure 1)(Si et al.,2024;Si and Zhu,2021).
