On the third day of the third lunar month of the ninth year of Yonghe,Emperor Mu's reign in the Eastern Jin Dynasty(353 CE),Wang Xizhi,who was then the magistrate of Kuaiji Prefecture,gathered with his friends at the Orchid Pavilion,which is located in Shanyin County,Kuaiji Prefecture.People regaled themselves right by poetizing their mixed feelings and emotions with liquor and songs.
