"Altered chords"is an extremely important concept in the study of harmonic theory.There are various interpretations and teaching methods for this concept in numerous textbooks around the world.Among them,the dominant altered chords and secondary dominant altered chords are not only the focal point of learning about altered chords,but also reflect the fundamental laws and principles of harmony.In the context of widely-used harmonic textbooks,starting with the concept of dominant-related altered chords,this paper explores the issues and difficulties present in the teaching process.Besides,by following the logical progression of the course,it also seeks to discover more rationalized teaching procedures,thereby optimizing the practical teaching of harmonic classes.
