The Blend of History and Reality in the Frontier Writings of Tang Dynasty’s Postal Road Poems

唐代驿路边域诗歌中有不少涉史作品,呈现出历史与现实交融的特点。与内地咏史诗不同的是,受土地广袤、山奇水怪、民族交融、战争抢掠等边域历史印迹的影响,边域驿路涉史诗歌在与现实交融中呈现出独有的特点:一是在涉及边域史事的诗歌中表达对建立丰功伟业的人生理想的追求;二是在涉史作品中反思国家在民族交流中的边域策略;三是现实生活中的失意者在面对边域失意人或失意事时引发无尽的怨愤和感伤;四是历史印迹中暗传出边域的寥落和悲凉。

Many postal road poems in the Tang Dynasty from the frontier regions incorporate historical elements,blending history with reality.Unlike historical poems from the interior,these poems are influenced by the vastness of the land,unique mountains and waters,ethnic integration,and wars and raids that have marked the frontier’s history.As a result,frontier postal road poems with historical themes present unique characteristics when integrated with reality:firstly,they express the pursuit of achievements in life within poems about frontier historical events.Secondly,they reflect on the national frontier strategies to ethnic exchanges within historical events.Thirdly,they express feelings of resentment and sadness in real life when encountering disappointed individuals or events in the frontier.Lastly,they subtly convey the loneliness and desolation in the frontier life through historical relics.
