An Empirical Study on Institutional Discipline Competitiveness Identification Based on XGBoost Model

[目的/意义]在研究领域精准识别有竞争力的学科发展增长点,可以有效支撑新时期高校图书馆在学科发展与建设中开展决策型、创新型情报服务。[方法/过程]以机构为划分标准,以Incites平台的Citation Topics为切面选取具体的学科研究方向,根据学科发展测度需要,萃取相应的评价指标构建评价体系,选取XGBoost模型展开学科竞争力识别的模型训练和分类性能评估。[结果/结论]实证结果表明,有别于传统以论文为主的评价模式,运用科学算法工具识别计量指标,从ESI学科研究领域的宏观、中观、微观三个不同主题探索高校学科发展的潜力特征与核心竞争力,有助于更好地支撑学科建设与发展。

[Purpose/significance]Accurately identifying competitive growth points of discipline development in the research field can effectively support university libraries to carry out decision-making and innovative information services in the development and construction of disciplines in the new era.[Method/process]Taking the institution as the division standard and the Citation Topics of the Incites platform as the section to select the specific subject research direction,this paper extracts the corresponding evaluation indicators to construct the evaluation system according to the needs of the subject development measurement,and selects the XGBoost model to carry out the model training and classification performance evaluation of the subject competitiveness identification.[Result/conclusion]The empirical results indicate that,different from the traditional paper-based evaluation model,using scientific algorithm tools to identify quantitative indicators,and exploring the potential characteristics and core competitiveness of university discipline development from the macro,meso and micro three different themes of ESI discipline research field will help to better support discipline construction and development.
