叶淑媛教授的新著《二十世纪以来民族志小说研究》是国内首部民族志小说研究专著,也是国内第一部民族志小说专题史。该书打通了文学与人类学的范畴,以开阔的学术视野创造性地提出并阐释了民族志小说这一概念,该著从历史维度、族群记忆、认知人类学性质和社会人类学性质四个角度切入,对中国民族志小说进行体系化、立体化研究,搭建了一个具有本土性质的民族志小说研究概念话语体系,对民族志小说的系统性理论建设起到了比较重要的作用。该著研究方法新颖独特,采用了语义分析、比较研究以及纵横分析等研究方法,有效避免了主观定论以及类型混淆,使其表述精确可信。《二十世纪以来民族志小说研究》一书可谓是中国民族志小说本体研究的新突破。
