国立罗斯福图书馆暨中央图书馆重庆旧址巡礼

Tour of the Old Site of National Roosevelt Library&Central Library in Chongqing

抗日战争结束前夜,美国总统罗斯福溘然逝世。为纪念他在反法西斯战争中的卓著功绩,同时以示中美友好,国民政府决定建立一所国立罗斯福图书馆。1946年7月,教育部成立了国立罗斯福图书馆筹备委员会。馆址经讨论最后选定在重庆,馆舍为五年前新建的国立中央图书馆重庆分馆大楼。在筹备委员会同仁的辛勤劳作下,国立罗斯福图书馆于筹备期间便开始运行开放,肩负起应有的文化与教育使命。该机构虽然仅存在短短三年,其历史贡献却应该被永久铭记。作为全国重点文物保护单位,国立罗斯福图书馆旧址如何通过活化利用光大自身价值,这也是目前面临的现实挑战。

On the night before the end of the China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression,President Roosevelt of the United States passed away.In order to commemorate his outstanding achievements in the war against fascism,at the same time to show the friendship between China and the United States,the Nationalist Government decided to establish a National Roosevelt Library.In July 1946,the Ministry of Education set up a National Roosevelt Library Preparatory Committee.The location of the Library was discussed and finally selected Chongqing,and the Chongqing branch of the National Central Library was utilized for the premise,which had been newly constructed five years earlier.Thanks to the hard work of the Preparatory Committee,the National Roosevelt Library began to operate during the preparatory period,fulfilling its cultural and educational mission.Although the Institution existed for only three years,its historical contribution should be remembered forever.As a National Priority Cultural Relic Protection Site,the old site of National Roosevelt Library is now facing the challenge of how to enhance its value through revitalization and utilization.
