Defamiliarization used in C-E translation of diplomatic discourse deserves more attention from the translation world.It has been discovered that this strategy has been widely used in the C-E translation of speeches delivered by President Xi Jinping during his visits abroad(2022-2023),conveying the sound and clarifying stance of China towards international community effectively.The application of defamiliarization in Xi’s diplomatic discourse featured by the prevalence of culture allusions,classic sayings of Chinese celebrities,metaphors,etc.not only brings fresh expressions and foreign flavour to English members,but also greatly inspires the English listeners.
