The Cultural Community Thought of“harmony in diversity”:A New Perspective on American Ethnic Literary Study

在倡导构建人类命运共同体的新时代语境下,中国的外国文学研究者可以从“和而不同”的视角研究美国族裔文学中的文化共同体思想,在文学研究层面为中美文明的交流互鉴做出应有贡献。共同体可以具化为基于全人类共同价值理念而有机结成的人类群体,而文化共同体是指在文化领域崇尚全人类共同价值的有机人类群体,其最终旨归和实现方式均为“和而不同”。基于“和而不同”的文化共同体思想研究美国族裔文学,不仅可以深化对美国族裔文学的多维认识,窥探文学背后社会、政治、经济、文化等要素之间更为复杂的博弈关系,进而明辨中美两种文化交流互鉴的可行性与必要性,而且可以从话语建构的视角彰显“以我为主”的学术立场与“为我所用”的学术气派。

In the new context of advocating the building of a community with a shared future for mankind,foreign literature researchers in China can study the cultural community thought in American ethnic literature from the perspective of“harmony in diversity”,and make contributions to the exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and American civilizations in the field of literary study.A community can be embodied as a human group organically formed on the basis of humanity's common values,while a cultural community refers to an organic human group advocating humanity's common values in the cultural field.The ultimate purport of a cultural community is to achieve“harmony in diversity”in the mode of“harmony in diversity”.Studying American ethnic literature,based upon the cultural community thought of“harmony in diversity”,can not only deepen the multidimensional understanding of American ethnic literature,explore the more complex game relationship among social,political,economic,cultural and other elements behind the literature,and identify the feasibility and necessity of exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese culture and American culture,but also demonstrate the academic position of“giving prominence to Chinese theory”and the academic style of“self-regardness”from the perspective of discourse construction.
