摘要
葛浩文英译《碧奴》,采取了一系列翻译叙事策略,以目标语文化公共叙事与译者的本体叙事合力建构译文本叙事,将原文的“人性”叙事重构为“性别权利关系”叙事,令原文叙事与译文叙事发生翻转。叙事建构不仅内在于文化内的文本改写,更内在于文本的跨文化翻译过程。苏童的《碧奴》经历了从中国经典传说到葛浩文英译本的双重叙事重构,文本经过了从文化内改写到跨文化翻译改写,其叙事处于持续的重构之中。作为一种社会叙事,翻译往往在目标语文化中重构原文本叙事,因此目标语文化接触到的是翻译“讲述的故事”。这种故事在目标语文化中建构了原文本文化的现实,翻译叙事建构是文本跨文化转换的必然过程。
In Howard Goldblatt’s Binu and the Great Wall of China,Su Tong’s narrative of“humanity”is reframed as“gender power relation”after the trial of strength of public narrative and personal narrative through a series of translational narrative strategies.Narrative reframing,which is found in intercultural translation as well as intracultural rewriting,is not interrupted through the double narration from the classic Chinese legend to Su Tong’s retelling and then Goldblatt’s English translation.As a form of socionarrative,a translation tends to reframe the narrative of the source text,and therefore what comes to the target-language culture is the narrated story through translation,which will construct the cultural reality of the source text,for translational narrative reframing is an integral part of intercultural text conversion.
