As a representative work of the British medieval art historian Michael Camille,Images on the Edge:The Margins of Medieval Art reveals another aspect of medieval art beyond the conventional portrayal of it as sublime, eternal, and static.Through the triple perspectives of fluidity, dialogue, and transgression, this book systematically explores the significance of the“marginal”in the formation, development, and self-renewal of medieval art within the coexistence of opposing relations such as diverse social groups, texts and images, reading and viewing,as well as individual and public.
