On the Concept of “New Quality Productive Forces” in Context of Historical Materialism

“New Quality Productive Forces”is a significant theoretical concept,which was proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping.It has roots deeply in historical materialism.Marx discovered the fundamental function of productive forces in the development of human society.Concerning the generation of new productive forces through application of science and technology,this is reflected relatively in the continuous renewal of productive forces in progress of social formations,and absolutely in the creation of modern productive forces which overturn traditional modes of production through scientific and technological innovation.Regarding the promotion of new quality productive forces through division of labor,Marx pointed out that internal division of labor within enterprises can create a kind of social forces,while social division of labor constitutes a lever for the new development and application of productive forces.As for the determination of new quality productive forces by social forms,new production relations not only determine the social nature of the development of productive forces but also restrict the different limits of their utilization.These provide a theoretical context for a better understanding of Xi Jinping’s view that the development of new quality productive forces must cultivate future industries,achieve technological self-reliance and self-improvement and comprehensively deepen reforms.
