Global research trends in child male circumcision:A bibliometric visualization analysis

目的儿童男性包皮环切术是一种常见的手术程序,涉及部分切除阴茎的包皮。尽管已经发表了大量关于儿童男性包皮环切术的研究,但迄今为止尚未进行过此问题的文献计量分析研究。方法在Web of Science核心合集(WOSCC)数据库中搜索了2000年1月-2023年6月与儿童男性包皮环切术相关的研究文档。使用CiteSpace和VOSviewer软件进行文献计量和可视化分析。结果共检索到520份文档进行分析。在过去的20年中,与儿童男性包皮环切术相关的出版物和引用数量有所增加。来自耶鲁大学(美国康涅狄格州纽黑文)和牛津大学(英国牛津)的Brian D Earp教授,是最多产的作者。美国在该领域的研究中扮演着领先角色,不仅是最多产的国家,而且还是引用最多的中心国家(n=6510)。当前,这一领域的研究主要在美国、欧洲和非洲国家进行,而亚洲国家发表的文章比例相对较小。当前的研究前沿趋势集中在男性包皮环切术与HIV感染之间的关系。结论本研究提供了关于儿童男性包皮环切术的出版物的最新概览,以展示该领域的当前研究状态、热点和前沿趋势,从而促进未来的研究。

Objective Male circumcision is a frequently performed surgical procedure in children that involves the partial removal of the foreskin from the penis.Despite the considerable amount of research on male circumcision in children that has been published,there has been no bibliometric analysis study conducted on this issue to date.Methods We searched for documents related to child male circumcision in the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC)database from 2000 to June 2023.Bibliometric and visualization analysis was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software.Results A total of 520 documents were retrieved for analysis.The number of publications and citations on child male circumcision-related research has increased over the last two decades.Professor Brian D.Earp from Yale University(New Haven,CT,USA)and the University of Oxford(Oxford,UK)was the most prolific author.The United States plays a leading role in this field of research,being not only the most productive country but also the central country with the most citations(n=6510).Currently,research in this area is predominantly conducted in the United States,Europe,and African countries,while Asian countries have a relatively smaller proportion of published articles.The current trend in research focuses on the relationship between male circumcision and HIV infection.Conclusions This study provides an up-to-date overview of publications on child male circumcision,highlighting the current state of research,hotspots,and trends in the field,thereby promoting future research.
