英汉分裂构式焦点化演变的历程及认知理据

Evolution process and cognitive motivations of focalization in English and Chinese cleft constructions

摘要 本研究基于自建历时语料库,对比考察英汉典型分裂构式中的焦点标记和论元演变历程的共性和差异,并阐释其认知理据。研究表明,英语典型焦点标记的典型程度随4个时期(1600—2020年间)的推进逐步降低,英汉分裂构式中核心论元的使用频率一直高于外围论元;英语分裂构式焦点标记的使用频率一直远低于汉语分裂构式焦点标记;英语主体、客体论元的使用频率有不同程度的增加,汉语主体论元的使用频率显著递减。英汉分裂构式论元和标记原型范畴演变历程的认知理据为英汉分裂构式演变的原型效应,英汉焦点标记和论元历时演变差异的认知理据为识解的精细化、焦点强化和认知参照点的差异。 Based on a self-built diachronic corpus,this study conducts a contrastive analysis of the similarities and differences in the evolution of focus markers and arguments in English and Chinese cleft constructions,and discusses their cognitive motivations.The results reveal that the degree of typicality of typical focus markers in English gradually decreased over the four periods(1600-2020),and the usage frequency of core arguments in cleft constructions in both languages consistently exceeded that of peripheral arguments.The usage frequency of focus markers in English cleft construction has always been much lower than in Chinese.While the usage frequency of Chinese subject arguments decreased significantly,that of English subject and object arguments increased to some or a considerable degree.The prototype effect is the cognitive motivation for the evolution of the prototypical categories of arguments and focus markers in cleft constructions in both languages.The cognitive motivations for the differences in the evolution of focus markers and arguments are the differences in the elaboration of construal,focus intensification,and cognitive referencepoints.
