《文赋》与陆机身世

Wen Fu(The Art of Writing)is a rhyme prose written by Lu Ji during the Western Jin Dynasty,after the fall of the state of Wu and his relocation to Luoyang.It offers a comprehensive account and analysis of various facets involved in literary creation,having profound significance within the annals of Chinese literary theory.However,there are also shortcomings of being“clever and fragmentary”as criticized by Liu Xie,which caused much controversy for subsequent readings and research.Additionally,there have always been different opinions on the date of its composition.Addressing these issues requires an analysis of Lu Ji's family background and life experiences.Through comparison of his interactions upon arriving in Luoyang and the preface of The Art of Writing,it can be confirmed that the work was composed towards the end of the Tai Kang era after Lu Ji's arrival in the capital.With Lu Ji's background in mind,we can generally understand the description of the process of his literary creation in The Art of Writing.Lu expressed his own views on the integration of poetry education and literary spirit,forming his unique intellectual wisdom.This also had an important impact on Liu Xie's The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons.
