This article, centered on the reports of"Taiwan Nichinichi Shinpo",analyzes the reasons, cycles, routes, development of pilgrimage activities, and their impacts from Mazu temples in Taiwan China to the ancestral temple in Meizhou,Fujian during the Japanese occupation period. The main reason for the pilgrimage from Mazu temples in Taiwan to the ancestral temple in Meizhou during the Japanese occupation period was to seek the protection of Mazu and enhance the spiritual power to attract believers. In addition, pilgrimage activities were often combined with business inspections, family visits, and tourism, deeply influenced by the traditional custom of Taiwan Residents China believers visiting the ancestral temple on the mainland since the Qing Dynasty.Due to factors such as long distance, inconvenient transportation, unsettled sea routes, social unrest, and restrictions on travel policies by the Japanese colonial government, pilgrimages from Mazu temples in Taiwan to the ancestral temple in Meizhou could only be held every few years.Taiwan Residents China people mainly went to Meizhou Island for pilgrimage via Fuzhou and Xiamen.Through the development of pilgrimage activities, not only did it promote the prosperity of incense in Mazu temples in Taiwan, but it also had a profound impact on individual pilgrims and the ancestral temple in Meizhou.
