1 BACKGROUND Sustainability issues have been the focus of building design for decades.Major international agreements like the Kyoto protocol have pointed out the importance of reducing energy consumption related CO_(2)emissions.It has become obvious that buildings consume a large amount of energy worldwide and thus bear the greatest potential for energy savings.
