On Economic Motive

经济动机在伦理上的正当性问题及其限度,是经济伦理要回答的首要问题。经济动机的正当性是在现代化的进程中才逐步得到肯定的。对于经济动机的内涵及其正当性有不同的看法,这些看法之间的争论直接涉及到对经济伦理是否可能,何以可能这一根本问题的回答。

A primary question in economic ethics is how to justify ones economic motive, or the motive for ones economic activities, and how to locate its limit. A pivotal factor in the transition from traditional to modern society is that the economic motive that had been abnormal or immoral gradually became normal and moral. There are different views on the content and rightness of economic motive. Divergence over it is related to the essential question whether and how economic ethic is possible.
