From the development of mechanical discipline,extensive and profound c onnotation of mechanical discipline is dwelt.Based on buildi ng and developing specialty,a generalization peculiarity discipline c onception is presented.From analyzing the pre sent condition of mechanical discip line,some important functions and i ts status of mechanical discipline fro m some profit aspects in ocean universities is dissertated.
