The Formation of Wangshe(望社)and its Poetic Cultural Activities

望社是清代初年出现在淮安的一个独具地域特色的大型文学社团。望社的崛起,以明清易代的政治变革为契机;淮安一地独特的地理位置与地域政治、经济、文化背景,使这一文学社团带有明显的遗民文化特征,成为淮扬遗民诗群的一个重要组成部分。望社的诗文化活动沿袭了宋元以来文社的一些固有特征,它对清初淮安诗学的勃兴、诗风的形成及考据学风的滋生至关重要。

Wangshe,a large literary society,emerged in Huaian in the early days of the Qing Dynasty.The rising of Wangshe ocurred at the critical juncture when the Ming was replaced by the Qing.Due to its geographical uniqueness,and its geopolitical,economic and cultural background,this society showed the features of the diehards culture,and became an important part of the diehard groups in Huaian and Yangzhou.Although the poetic cultural activities of Wangshe followed the conventions of the other literary societies in the Yuan and Song Dynasties,it yet played a crucial role in the revitalization of poetics,the formation of poetic style and the production of textual research mode in Huaian in the beginning of the Qing dynasty.
