The general plan for the new urban areas in Putong,Shanghai has now been compiled pending for theapproval.This article examines in a comprehensive manner all aspects of the plan from the nature of the plannedarea to the characteristics of socio-economics,demographics and scale of urban land use,morphologicalstructure,infrasttuctural level and so on.
