Genomics—A Field Where Multi-Subjects Interplay

生命的产生以基因组提供的信息为基础,所有的生命活动都与基因组息息相关.人类基因组由30亿碱基对构成.人类基因组计划首先是要揭示人类基因组的序列结构,即弄清这么多的碱基按什么顺序串联在一起;接着是弄清各段序列都有什么生物功能,如哪些序列能编码蛋白质或功能PNA,哪些序列是基因表达的正、负调控序列,哪些是基因表达的启动序列、终止序列等,这部分工作称为结构基因组研究;最终要弄清基因组的各部分是如何工作,尤其是如何分工协作的,这称为功能基因组研究.

Genome research offers a field where life science interplays with some other subjects,such as computing science,theoretical physics,information science.On one hand,life science not only enlarges our knowledge of the life,but also raises some new questions that might stimulate further development of these subjects. On the other hand,these subjects can provide life science with necessary methods and techniques.
