Characteristics of History Education in Ancient China

中国古代史学研究繁荣 ,史家辈出 ,史籍浩翰 ,历史教育发达。历代统治者都注重发挥历史教育的“借鉴”功能 ;历史教育已成为古代学校教育的重要内容之一 ;而古代历史启蒙教材的编撰对普及历史教育和传播历史知识产生了重要影响 ;历史教育也在摆脱经学的束缚中得到曲折发展 ;古代历史教育中秉笔直书、寓论于史。

The flourishing of history research in ancient China was attributed to the work of historians of different generations, the advanced history education and a vast collection of history books. The rulers generally resorted to experience of their predecessors for reference. History education became one of the most important contents in ancient schooling. The compiling of enlightened history books also helped spread the knowledge. All these, together with such features as the combination of history with literature, the different standards of historians, are all worthy of analysis and research.
