On the Characteristics, Harm and Governance of Religious Extremism in Northwest China

在国内外多种因素的共同影响下,具有强烈政治意图的宗教极端思想在我国西北地区不断蔓延,严重威胁着国家安全和社会稳定。通过倡导"族教分离",树立正确的民族观和宗教观;加强公民教育,树立国家观念,增强文化认同;深化区域反恐合作,打击境内外宗教极端势力;加强宗教教职人员的教育、培养和管理等措施,可以有效防治西北地区的宗教极端思想,维护当地的社会稳定与发展。

Under the influence of various factors at home and abroad, religious extremist thoughts with strong political intentions have been spreading in northwest China, which threaten national security and social stability seriously. The idea of 'separation of ethnic groups and religions' should be advocated to establish a correct view of the nation and religion. Civic education should be strengthened to establish a national concept and enhance cultural identity. Regional anti-terrorism cooperation should be deepened to crack down on religious extremism at home and abroad. And measures such as strengthening the education, training and management of religious personnel can effectively prevent and control religious extremist thoughts in northwest China and maintain local social stability and development.
